Amazon.com is now an OCLC PromptCat participant, making it possible for libraries to receive OCLC MARC records along with the materials they get from the online vendor including books, music, DVDs and more.
The OCLC PromptCat service offers an effective, affordable way to automate a library's cataloguing needs. With PromptCat, new items ordered through participating vendors such as Amazon.com arrive with complete OCLC MARC records, and the library's holdings are automatically set in WorldCat, the world's most comprehensive database of library materials.

Each of these services can be tailored to meet the needs of each library, and each library is able to manage its processing profile online.
"Through this cataloguing agreement with Amazon.com, OCLC will deliver WorldCat metadata records to libraries at the point of need - online, during the acquisitions process," said Phyllis Spies, Vice President, OCLC Collection Management Services. "Now, libraries that buy books and other materials from Amazon.com will automatically receive the corresponding catalogue record delivered from OCLC, have their holdings set in WorldCat, and receive labels from Amazon.com. This is an added benefit for libraries with an OCLC cataloguing subscription; the service will be provided at no additional charge."
