Two China databases published by Hong Kong Baptist University Library

The Overseas Chinese Clippings Database focuses on the Chinese and Taiwanese governments' policies on Overseas Chinese. The estimated 42,000 clippings selected for this database were taken from approximately 270 Chinese language newspapers and periodicals, published in 17 countries or regions, from 1950 through 1970.
The Database is a collection newspaper and periodical clippings that was originally collected by the Union Research Institute. The estimated 200,000 clippings are taken from some 230 Chinese language newspapers and 40 periodicals, published from 1950 through 1970. The 42,000 clippings selected for this project, cover six main topics: government agencies dealing with Overseas Chinese, foreign remittance and investments, Overseas Chinese villages, reception and settlement of returned expatriates, Overseas Chinese education, Overseas Chinese tours and visits. The clippings can be searched by topics, headlines, authors, newspaper or periodical titles, and/or place and date of publication. After selecting the records, users can view full text images.

China Through the Eyes of CIM Missionaries - A Lantern Slide & Glass Plate Negative Collection database contains 225 images of portraits, landscapes, scenery and architecture in China as well as shots documenting the social conditions and economic activities of the Chinese from the 1900s to the 1930s.

The database consists of lantern slides and glass plate negatives received as a gift from the Billy Graham Center Archives, Wheaton College, USA in 1998. This collection of 166 hand-tinted glass lantern slides, 53 glass plate negatives and 6 plastic negatives, contain images of portraits, landscapes, scenery and architecture in China as well as shots documenting the social conditions and economic activities of the Chinese from the 1900s to the 1930s. The CIM (China Inland Mission, renamed the Overseas Missionary Fellowship in 1964) used these slides and negatives in slide shows in the United States.
